From Dr. Gross

Chin augmentation is a common procedure performed to improve the balance of your facial profile and correct a “weak” or receding chin due to congenital deficiency, age-related bone resorption or facial trauma. A weak chin can make the nose seem larger or make the neck appear full and undefined. Chin implant is the procedure of choice for most patients with normally functioning teeth and jaw development. A chin implant gives more projection of the chin and a better shape.  Dr. Gross performs chin augmentation through an incision under the chin with no minimal visible scar. He performs Chin Implant  in conjunction with Rhinoplasty in ~30% of his cases. The Computer Imager is excellent to show patients their potential results with this procedure.

Dr. Gross typically uses a solid Silastic silicone (FDA approved, medical grade) implant for chin augmentation. The incision is carefully placed underneath the chin in a well-hidden crease. Chin implant is typically done at the time of either Rhinoplasty, neck and jaw line liposuction or submentoplasty (tightening of the muscles underneath the chin and upper neck).  A combination of these procedures provides the best results in many patients. This will be determined at the time of your consultation with Dr. Gross with the help of the Computer Imager.

Cheek Impants are placed through hidden incisions inside the mouth and add volume to the cheeek bones and the mid- face. This gives needed lift to the cheeks and a more youthful appearance, which lasts a lifetime. Solid silicone implants (Implantech®) are used for the cheeks and come in various sizes and shapes. Dr. Gross will select the best cheek implant for each patient after careful analysis and measurements of your face and cheeks.
