From Dr. Gross

The Computer Imager sets us apart from other plastic surgeons.

The Computer Imaging system used by Dr. Gross is a very powerful tool both for assessing patient’s anatomy, facial features and balance, teaching with visual aids, and most importantly, to develop a concept of potential before and after results for each individual. Seeing your face on the Imager is much better than having to view before and after photographs of other patients, according to Dr. Gross. In this way, realistic expectations can be reviewed, discussed, and aesthetic concerns and desires can be dialed into the Computer Imager for fine tuning of potential results.

There are very few offices that have this technology in place or have the experience that Dr. Gross has developed over 16 years of performing computer imaging. The before and after images are emailed to the patient following Consultation to share with other family members, and demonstrate visually the anticipated results of surgery.

Commonly Asked Questions

What is computer imaging?
Computer imaging is the highly technical digital process which allows Dr. Gross to make changes to your face, nose, eyes, neck, chin, ears, or skin to improve your appearance. This is done on a large screen TV monitor which shows the profile and allows Dr. Gross to change or erase problem areas.  A side by side before and after image analysis can them be done with comprehensive and detailed measurements, performed by Dr. Gross. He will morph your before and after images to see what you would look like after treatment. He then uses these Images as a template or model to work from in surgery and to plan and discuss your individualized treatment.  This is an invaluable tool for teaching and educating patients, which Dr. Gross enjoys. Important anatomy slides are also reviewed  in a candid understandable manner.

How accurate is Computer Imaging?
This mostly depends on the physician, his experience, and expertise. Dr. Gross is quite accurate with the imaging process and has been performing facial plastic & reconstructive surgery in conjunction with computer imaging for more than 15 years. After an examination and computer analysis,  he will  take time to clearly communicate realistic goals, expectations, and limitations with each patient.  Of course, there is no guarantee that he can make the image and the surgical outcome the same, as cosmetic procedures and anatomy are variable. We use the Computer Imager to give our patients a visual simulation of their possible results and  Dr. Gross uses these images as the template (or roadmap) in surgery.  A required disclaimer is attached to the photo stating results may vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Will I be able to take a copy of the images with me?
We provide the computer imaging  results for each patient via e-mail following the Consultation. You will be able to view these images at home on your PC and share with family and friends.  Viewing these images in the comfort of your own home will allow you to see Dr. Gross’ conceptual and artistic details, which resonates with our patients.

Is Computer Imaging like Photoshop?

Yes and No. It does involve computer programming; however, the software was specially designed  for plastic surgeons to perform facial imaging and is much more powerful than PhotoShop.  Successful use of this tool requires detailed knowledge of facial anatomy, engineering, computer simulation, normative data points of the human face and a sense of artistry.

Who does the Computer Imaging?

Dr. Gross performs all the imaging sessions (with the patient in attendance) during the Consultation. He has a great deal of experience with this and will generally complete the process in about 5-10  minutes. Patients can offer input and get helpful feedback from Dr. Gross.

Should I bring in pictures of myself?  or ones that I have morphed ?

It is generally not necessary to bring in old photos, except wher there may have been prior surgery or facial trauma.  However; for patients considering Fat Grafting of the face for increasing cheek volume, old pictures are helpful for Dr. Gross to see.

Testimonials

I just wanted to say thank you very much to Dr. Gross and all his staff for the excellent treatment that I received from the very first time I visited the clinic to the surgery day. Dr. Gross was really patient and really clear in the manner he explained the rhinoplasty procedure and its steps. It made me really happy and confident to receive a phone call from Dr. Gross the night after surgery to check how I was doing and if I needed anything. This shows that (thank God) there are still excellent doctors that really worry and take care of their patients from beginning to end. Thank you to everybody at Primera Plastic Surgery, you are the best! I am really happy with my procedure, can’t wait to see the final results!
