Dot CO2 Before & After Photos (Total pictures in this category: 4)
The use of DOT Therapy (Dermal Optical Thermolysis) is a fresh new way to transform skin and enhance its overall appearance. DOT Therapy can reverse the appearance of aged or sun-damaged skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines and minimize acne scars. Because DOT Therapy delivers the desired outcome with minimal downtime, “it is replacing traditional CO2 laser skin resurfacing as the treatment of choice for mild to moderate signs of photo damage”, says Dr. Gross.
- Reverse the appearance of aged and sun damaged skin
- Improve texture and firmness
- Smooth wrinkles and lines
- Reduce the appearance of acne and other scars
- Renew your skin
1. How does DOT Therapy work?
DOT Therapy is setting a new standard for skin rejuvenation in fractional laser resurfacing. During the procedure, Dr. Gross will apply a pattern of tiny scanned pulses of laser energy to your skin with a controlled laser. The DOT procedure is customized to your skin by Dr. Gross. He can adjust the laser’s settings to tailor treatment and obtain the best results for you. Adjustments can be made throughout the procedure to more accurately treat specific areas such as acne scars on the cheeks or fine lines around the mouth.
The DOT CO2 Laser Therapy laser precisely creates thousands of microscopic holes (DOT’s) in your skin, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. Patients are often amazed at how tight their skin feels immediately after the procedure. DOT Laser is designed to improve the skin’s texture and tone and to fight fine lines, deep wrinkles, and acne scars.
Unlike other laser resurfacing technologies, DOT Laser leaves islands of healthy tissue surrounding the microscopic DOTs. This enables your skin to heal more rapidly and minimizes overall damage.
2. How long is my down time?
Generally, only 3-5 days
3. Do I need anesthesia or sedation?
No, the DOT laser is performed with topical numbing cream only, in about 30 minutes. A mild sedative and analgesic may also be prescribed.
- Minimal downtime
- Rapid healing
- Quick procedure
- Low risk
- Accurate results
- Customized treatment
- Minimally invasive
- Renewed skin
- Treatment of multiple issues at once
- Little or no anesthesia
Fractional CO2 Laser – DOT Therapy Procedure
DOT Therapy is different…Thanks to a new, revolutionary technology, Dr. Gross now offers the new gold-standard for moderate to severe wrinkles, age spots, and acne scarring; DOT Therapy, the fractionated CO2 laser. The fractional scientific approach utilizes the body’s natural healing response in a unique way. Instead of removing the entire layer of skin, the new technology allows the laser to lay down rows of tiny, microscopic laser wounds, evenly spaced across the skin, leaving areas of untreated skin between them. The surface of treated skin now contains only tiny pixilated surface wounds, instead of one large, red, oozing burn. This breakthrough in science and technology allows patients to take advantage of the incredible results from traditional CO2 laser resurfacing while greatly minimizing the risks of developing hypo or hyperpigmentation and scarring from traditional CO2 lasers. Compared to the older CO2 lasers, downtime is only a few days, not a few weeks. Within a week there is minimal evidence of having undergone the procedure outside of having new, tighter, fresh skin that continues to improve over the next several months.
The inherent risks and potential complications of the CO2 laser are minimized with the fractional delivery, while still offering results with one treatment. This procedure can be performed in the office with topical anesthesia (BLT) in about 30 minutes.
Dr. Gross understands that the best long-term results from laser resurfacing require more than just laser treatment. That is why he has his team of skin care specialists examine and educate each patient prior to and after the DOT therapy. A specialized skin care plan will adequately prepare the skin for the laser procedure, take care of the skin during the healing phase, and maintain the tremendous gains achieved from the procedure.
What Will DOT Therapy Do for Me?
If you have spent years in the sun, especially without adequate sun protection, then you know what it can do to your skin. Wrinkles, skin discoloration, sun spots, skin laxity may be reduced or eliminated with DOT Therapy. Also, if you have scars from acne or other skin injuries, then you may also be a candidate for this procedure. Now, using DOT Therapy, an innovative, new, FDA- approved laser technology, less than 30 minutes may restore your skin’s youthful appearance. While the aging process cannot be stopped, with proper care you can maintain your rejuvenated skin’s appearance for many years!

How long does the DOT CO2 Laser process take?
~ 1/2 hour in our Primera office.
What type of anesthesia do you use?
We recommend an oral sedative combined with topical anesthesia cream 1 hour prior to therapy. IV sedation or general naesthesia is not required. (If sedation is given however, an adult driver is needed)
What are the risks and side effects?
Side effects are lower with this laser. Rare -Infection, lightening of skin tone, pigmentation changes (somtimes permanent) and scarring (rare), Facial swelling, pinkness, and an expected “ugly phase” for 2-3 days. Not as pronounced as with the full CO2 Laser.
How long is the recovery time?
Recovery is quicker and complete in 5-7 days. Back to work usually in 1 week. Keep in mind, this is a less powerful laser system and the pink phase will be shorter (and results less dramatic than CO2 laser). Avoid the sun for 3 months.
How long do the results last?
~3- 5 years, although aging process will continue. This laser can be repeated in 12 month intervals, since it is gentler on the skin.
How does DOT CO2 Laser work?
The laser produces micro columns of heat, which vaporizes skin cells 1 layer at a time, while leaving normal , intact skin islands alone. This allows more rapid healing and a lower chance of side effects. The results are smoother skin around the eyes, less lines around the mouth, improved complexion, and removalof sun damaged skin.
What type of laser is used?
Dr. Gross uses the SmartXide® DOT Laser System. Dr. Gross has a large volume of experience with this procedure and with this state of the art machine. He also uses the Fraxel Laser, which is indicated for patients with lesser degrees of wrinkling. (The latter is becoming more prevalent due to less down time and even fewer side effects.)
Does it hurt?
During the procedure, patients are under minimal oral sedation with topical anesthesia cream. This is helpful since the laser treatment is warm. Following therapy, however, the lasered skin has a feel of a sunburn for approximately 8 hours. Oral pain medications are typically needed for the first day only.
Are there other Lasers for red spots, brown spots and tattoos?
Yes. The Pulsed Dye Laser is used for removing Port Wine Stains or red spots. The YAG tattoo laser is used for tattoo removal- multiple sessions needed, and the YAG – ATV laser is used for removal of freckles, brown spots, and resistant sun spots. Dr. Gross will review the best laser for your individual skin problems.
What are the main benefits I receive with the DOT CO2 Laser?
The main benefit to the DOT CO2 laser is the gentle skin tightening that occurs, with quicker recovery time, and lower chance of side effects. It also increases your facial collagen so that new healthy skin cells can grow and rejuvenate once the old, damaged skin is removed.
Who are the best candidates for treatment?
Since this laser can cause some lightening of the skin, it is best used for Caucasian skin types (with mild to moderate sun damage and/or wrinkles). Ask Dr. Gross if you are a candidate for DOT CO2 Laser in Orlando.
To say that I am pleased is an under statement. I love the results from the DOT laser and my recovery was pretty easy–only 5 days and I was in make up. Highly recommend the DOT and Dr. Gross.
Warmest Regards,
Dotty
