Liposuction Before & After Photos (Total pictures in this category: 19)

From Dr. Gross

Facial appearance changes with time and age. Fatty deposits become apparent not only on the buttocks, thighs and abdomen but also on the jowls, under the chin and neck. This is due to gradual changes of aging and/or weight gain. The face, cheeks, under chin area become full and rounded, causing some people lose their confidence and self-esteem.

Liposuction or liposculpture is the surgical vacuuming of fat from beneath the surface of the skin with fine canulas. It is used to reduce fullness in the neck, and create a sharper , more youthful jawline. The following are the most commonly asked questions:

Am I a candidate for liposuction?

Patients who are slightly overweight can benefit from liposuction. It is best to be at or near your normal weight. Good skin elasticity permits the skin to shrink easily to the reduced contour. There are no absolute age limits for liposuction; however, younger skin tends to respond better due to it’s elasticity.

If I gain weight, what will happen to my neck?

Our general rule of thumb, is that patients are candidates for neck and jawline  liposuction if they are not more than 50 pounds over ideal body weight. If they are, I recommend weight loss, dieting and exercise first.  Putting weight back on (in moderate amounts) will not alter or strecth the skin back; however, excessive weight gain may blunt the nice countour of the neck achieved by liopsuction. Often times our patients are so motivated after successful lipo procedures, that they go on to lose more weight and then tend to keep it off permamnently. This greatly enhances over all results.

Can liposuction tighten up a loose neck?

If there is excess fat under the chin and the skin is taut, liposuction alone can produce a more sculpted, angular, and youthful jaw line. If  however, the skin of the neck is loose, hanging, or crepey, even if there is excess fat, liposuction alone will not produce the desired result. Patients with loose skin usually require a tightening procedure such as a minilift, facelift, and neck lift in addition to (or instead) of liposuction. In general, patients who benefit most from neck liposuction alone  are under 40. Most patients over 40 will require some surgical skin tightening.

I have “chubby cheeks”.  Will lipo help this?

Yes and No. Cheek fullness can be caused by hypertrophy or excess fat in the central fat pad of the face. In these cases, Buccal Fat Extraction is performed along with lipo.  Ask us about Buccal Fat Extraction to create a thinner face during your consultation with Dr. Edward Gross.

Liposuction seems very simple and safe. Are there any dangers?

Although liposuction is very safe and effective, it is a surgical procedure and can cause complications such as infection, bleeding, and nerve damage. In addition, aesthetic complications such as skin irregularity or waviness can occur. The use of compression garments and chin straps greatly reduces these occurrences.  Fortunately, complications are very uncommon and most patients are satisfied with their results. Please ask Dr. Gross about anything you don’t understand.

Neck liposuction is neck lift procedure is used to remove fat from beneath the chin. It is successfully used to minimize the look of a double chin or jowls. Neck liposuction will not necessarily eliminate dimpled or rippled looking skin. To remove that you might also need a neck lift contouring that is done in conjunction the liposuction surgery.

Testimonials

I don’t know where to begin setting to words my surgical experience. From the first visit to the office, I felt confident that I had found the right surgeon. Dr. Gross were referred to me a few years ago, before the reality had set in that I would actually go through any facial enhancement.

One of the concerns that I had was the time crunch of my daughter’s wedding, which was seven weeks from the surgery. I had a lot of anxiety concerning the recovery time, and was very brave (or crazy) to schedule surgery that close. I had several procedures done at the same time and was especially worried about the laser surgery on my skin.

It all worked out great. I had so many compliments on my appearance, and no one was the wiser. I looked 10 years younger! How do you thank someone who has made you look 10 years younger?

The recover play I followed put me back into service very quickly. I felt it was crucial to follow the post-op care to the T. I also am amazed at not being able to see any scars. AMAZING!

I also want to compliment your staff for their fine job, as well.

Thank you very much for your skills and caring. You’re the best!

Sincerely,
Anna

My tip to plastic surgery:

Be prepared before your surgery by taking care of your eating and drinking habits. Drink plenty of water and relaxing in the weeks before your surgery.

Buy everything on your pre-op list and your prescriptions well in advance of your surgery date. Your pharmacy may not have your prescription needs and may need time to obtain your drugs.

I followed all the information supplied by Dr. Gross and I had no pain and the bruising was gone within two weeks, when I returned to work.

Some friends and co-workers wanted to know where I went on vacation because I looked great and well rested. Of course I didn’t tell…but I will tell you…THIS WAS THE BEST VACATION EVER! This is one vacation that will last for years to come.

I can’t thank Dr. Gross enough or tell him enough about how happy I am. He truly is the best plastic surgeon.

I must tell you his staff will make you feel like family.

Respectfully,
Susan
