Begin your experience with Visia Skin Analysis
A computerized analysis of your face is performed to scan for sun damage, red spots, brown spots, wrinkles, UV damage, and texture problems. The Visia helps Dr. Gross and Michelle Giglio, PA-C create a customized skin care plan for you to get the best results.

A tour of Primera Salon + Spa
We want you to be familiar with our Salon offerings as we incorporate various services into your surgical plan to ensure your comfort and relaxation. Offering color, highlights, cutting and styling for Men & Women, wash and blow, hair treatments and nails services. Primera Salon + Spa is your personal rejuvenation center.
Prior to your surgery, you will experience one-on-one time with our Medical Esthetician in Primera Day Spa who will prepare your skin for healing and cleanse the skin for optimal results. Pre and post procedure skin care will be mapped out on an individual basis.

The day of your surgery, we encourage and welcome your family to take advantage of their own private family waiting room featuring flat screen television viewing, couch, wireless Internet and a refrigerator for your convenience. A peaceful, calm, and quiet Serentity Room allows family to relax in comfort.

Walk thru the Primera Surgery Center
During your initial Consultation, a walk-thru tour of the surgical facility will be given to visualize the area of your procedure and recovery. On the day of your surgery, you will enter Primera via a Private Entrance located in the rear of our building where you will be greeted by our dedicated nursing staff. You will then meet with Dr. Gross discuss your procedure and place surgical markings on the appropriate areas. This is also where you will awaken as our team cares for you after surgery.

State-of-the-art Operating Room
Featuring the latest technical and surgical advances, the Primera OR is thoughtfully designed for your comfort and safety. Large windows offer views of a natural private preserve and provide a warm, natural, calming light for the patient. The natural light also reveals shadows on the skin surface and allows Dr. Gross to hide incisions in subtle creases to minimize scarring. The on-site operatory is double HEPA air filtered, has a certified Med Gas system, built-in advanced life safety system (from Expeditor) and meets or exceeds safety standards of the AAAASF.

Digital Photography
Enter our dedicated, professional Photography suite. Equipped with state-of-the-art digital cameras, soft boxes, tripod, and Mirror software -- photos are stored securely for use in Consultation with Dr. Gross. The lighting, f-stop, ISO, background color, and patient position are consistent and standardized to produce high quality photos. Dr. Gross is very particular about imaging and this quality control is evident when viewing our Before & After results.

Computer Imaging session
The Before and After results from your Computer Imaging session will be displayed and reviewed so you can discuss your potential results with Dr. Gross. The digital images will then be e-mailed to you to view on your home PC.

A one-on-one Consultation with Dr. Gross
Dr. Gross will examine and take measurements of your face for use in Computer Imaging. Your photos will be analyzed and potential before and after results morphed on the computer by Dr. Gross. A comprehensive process of understanding your desires, anatomy, medical history, photos, and expectations. Dr. Gross spends one-on-one time with patients to discuss potential changes with surgery, laser, or non-surgical treatments.

What is the difference between a facial plastic surgeon and general plastic surgeon?
A facial plastic surgeon has dedicated training in addition to greater experience in this area and is considered a true specialist in the field of Facial Plastic Surgery. Although both are board certified, Facial Plastic Surgeons typically perform more facial procedures per year than general plastic surgeons. Informed and educated patients recognize the importance of specialization and the distinction of the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

What does it mean to be ABFPRS certified?
Certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery means that the facial plastic surgeon:
- Has completed an approved 5 year residency after medical school in one of two surgical specialties focusing on facial plastic surgery (otolaryngology - head and neck surgery or plastic surgery)
- Is certified by two boards, having earned prior certification in one of those specialties through the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada, and ABFPRS certification
- Has successfully completed a two-day written and oral examination
- Has completed at least two-years of clinical experience, including operative reports of a minimum of 100 facial plastic surgery cases

How often does Dr. Gross perform surgery?
Dr. Gross performs surgery on Mondays and Fridays.

How many Rhinoplasties or Nose Jobs does Dr. Gross perform each year?
Dr. Gross consistently performs over 100 Rhinoplasty procedures per year (which is nearly ten times the average of a general plastic surgeon)

How accurate is Computer Imaging?
Dr. Gross has many years of experience performing facial surgery and working with the Computer Imager. This allows him to be quite accurate with these predictive images. Although our results are very close to the anticipated, final results may vary. You can feel comfortable knowing Dr. Gross has successfully met or exceeded Computer Imaging results in hundreds of patients during his 18+ year career.

Will there be any packing in my nose after Rhinoplasty?
No. Dr. Gross does not usually pace any packing in the nose after Rhinoplasty. Therefore, recovery is quicker and easier with less swelling.

Do you recommend any Homeopathic medicines to help with healing?
We prescribe Arnica and Bromelain (Sinecch) to reduce bruising and swelling. We have found this combination of Homeopathic remedies to speed healing after minor treatments like Botox & Juvederm as well as after surgery. Available at our office.

How much pain is there with surgery?
Pain is minimal with facial cosmetic procedures performed with Dr. Gross. The majority of our patients rate their pain as a 1 on a scale of 1-10.

Will I look natural?
Our results are very natural following treatment by Dr. Gross at Primera.

Will I be completely asleep for my surgery?
Yes, you will be completely asleep for your surgery. However, you will not 'wake up' during surgery or have any recollection of the procedure. This is called a general anesthetic and provides the patient a relaxing experience with reduced stress levels and allows Dr. Gross to perform the surgery with the best possible result. When you arrive in the recovery room, the effects of the sedatives and anesthetics will wear off gently with most patients ready for discharge home in about an hour.

When can I return back to work?
Generally one week for surgical procedures, however when combining facial procedures (including facelift) recovery may be ten days. Ask Dr. Gross for details during your consultation.

What is included in the cost of the surgery?
The Consultation fee is applied toward the cost of surgery. All pre and post operative skin care, Visia skin analysis, follow-up visits for 1 year, photographs, garments, as well as Primera Salon and Spa treatments are included in the cost of surgery.

Does Dr. Gross perform the entire surgery?
Yes. Dr Gross performs all the surgery in it's entirety. There are no assistants.

How often is revision surgery needed?
Revision surgery is not commonly required. Our revision rate is less than 2% which is far below the national average. This is based on Dr. Gross' experience, training, and true specialization in Facial Plastic Surgery. That being said, there are inherent uncertainties in plastic surgery. Barring any unforseen problems, revision surgery is generally not anticipated.

Are there any risks with surgery?
Yes. Although all surgery carries some degree of risk; it is limited in nature due to Dr. Gross' specialized training, experience, and attention to detail. Ask Dr. Gross or a staff member about specific side-effects and risks that may be associated with your treatment during your Consultation. At Primera, patient safety (and education) is our number one goal.

Is it safe to be under anesthesia?
Yes, modern anesthesia techniques are extremely safe and we use up to date and advanced monitoring and equipment during surgery. Our facility is accredited by AAAASF, which is the gold standard for ambulatory surgery centers. Our Anesthetist has over 20 years of experience and is with the patient at all times. As part of our committment to patient care, we require a Medical Clearance by your primary care doctor- for patients over 40. An experienced and thoughtful surgeon, continuous Quality Improvement (kai-zen), and outside risk management insure that best practices are incorporated for all patients. At Primera, Safety is our #1 priority.

Will I be given pain medications after surgery?
Yes. All patients receive narcotic pain relievers and sleep aids following surgery. Most patients do not find the need for prolonged use of pain meds as facial procedures are generally not associated with much pain.

What hotel do you recommend for out of town guests? Do you have a special rate with the hotel?
We refer patients to the Westin Hotel in Lake Mary and a special discounted rate is offered (to our patients). The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the office. Ask about Concierge services with one of our staff members.

Do you have a Day Spa and Hair Salon? Are these services available before or after surgery?
Yes. Primera Salon and Spa services are available and incorporated into our treatment plans for convenience and elevated results. We have all services under one roof, overseen by a licensed physician, Dr. Edward J. Gross.

Who will see me after surgery?
Our dedicated team of professionals will assist you after surgery. Initial post-op visit is with our nurse or PA. Dr. Gross oversees all post-op care and will also see you at regular intervals and at anytime deemed necessary. Dr. Gross calls patients the night of surgery to monitor progress and all surgical patients are provided with Dr. Gross' cell #. Good communication is key and a staff member is always available to assist you.

Is the surgery center licensed and accredited?
Yes. Primera Surgery Center is registered and licensed with the State of Florida and accredited by the AAAASF (American Assoc. of Accredited Ambulatory Surgical Facilities).

Is there an Anesthetist or Anesthesiologist on staff?
Yes. At Primera Surgery Center, we have a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist on staff with over 20 years of experience and is with the patient at all times. To learn more about the qualifications of our Anesthetist, please click on our ' Staff ' page.

Does Dr. Gross treat different ethnic groups?
Yes. We treat different ethnic groups both with surgery and with non-surgical therapies. Dr. Gross has 18 years of experience and has treated many different skin types, ethnicities, and races during his career.

Do you guarantee results after surgery or laser treatments?
No. Although we do our best to achieve satisfactory results for all our patients, we cannot offer guarantees.

Is an overnight stay required after surgery?
No. All procedures are done on an outpatient basis at Primera Surgery Center and overnight stay is not required. Patients are generally released home after 1 hour in the Recovery Room (an adult driver is required). For out of town patients, we recommend the Westin Hotel which is located 5 minutes from Primera.

Who can I call after hours in case of an emergency or problem?
Dr. Gross and our PA handle all after hours calls for emergencies. For surgical patients, Dr. Gross' direct cell # is provided. Call 407.333.3040 after hours.

Is there a PA or Physicians Assistant on staff?
Yes, Michelle Giglio, PA-C is our board certified Physicians Assistant. She works closely with Dr. Gross and assists in pre and post -op care, as well as seeing patients for Aesthetics, Lasers, Injectables, and skin care. To learn more about Michelle, go to our Staff page.

Is there a hospital nearby for emergencies?
Yes. Dr. Gross is on Active Staff at Orlando Regional and ORHS-South Seminole Hospital is less than 15 minutes from our office. Although emergecies are extremely rare, protocol would require transfer to a local hospital should one arise. The surgery center is fully accredited (AAAASF) and inspected and has an excellent safety record.

How often do you have Events & Seminars or Specials?
We host educational Seminars & Events at Primera ~ 4 times per year. These are great opportunties to meet Dr. Gross, our Staff, and tour the facilities. A teaching demo as well as door prizes, gift give-aways, and Special offers make these evenings fun, educational and highly anticipated.

What charitable organizations does the practice participate in?
Over the years, Dr. Gross has supported the Orlando community with pro-bono involvement in Safe House, Harbor House, Pathways to Home, Arnold Palmer Childrens Hospital, Harvest Time International, Face to Face, Faces of Honor, and the Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
