Laser Treatment for Facial Redness and Broken Blood Vessels

Many of us struggle with broken blood vessels on our cheeks and nose.  At one time the possibility of effectively treating these was not available.  For the past several years, my team and I have effectively treated thousands of patients to eliminate those unsightly areas.

PDL treatments usually take 15 minutes or less and are performed during a regular office visit. No anesthesia is necessary, as the laser machine produces a cold spray just before the pulse, diminishing the sensation of pain. Most patients usually require between 1-3 treatments or more for optimal results. Patients with port wine stains, hemangiomas and extensive rosacea often need more treatments. Improving the appearance of red scars, hypertrophic scars, or keloids may take a variable number of treatments as well. As with any other treatment, incomplete response or recurrence may take place.

Side effects are generally minimal with the Pulse Dye Laser treatment. The most common side effect is bruising. If bruising should occur it usually subsides within 3-7 days. Less common side effects include temporary pigment changes usually lasting a few weeks. Sunblock for one month before treatment is recommended as tanned skin blocks the laser light and results in a higher chance of side effects. Scarring is extremely rare with this laser.

A good skincare regimen is always recommended after any laser treatment. A moisturizer, such as our Primera Ultra Elite Lite, applied 2-3 times per day will help protect the skin and speed recovery time. Sunscreen is a must as it will help minimize the chance of pigment changes. A Mineral based makeup, such as ColoreScience, is recommended starting on day two to enhance long-lasting results.
