We have many techniques available to rejuvenate aging skin in the face and neck. However, not every facelift procedure may yield your desired results. Which type of facelift (or neck lift) is right for you? In this post, we’ll compare the benefits of a mini facelift vs a facelift and other rejuvenation procedures so you better understand your options.
Get To Know Your Treatment Options
Mini Facelift
Sometimes called a “weekend facelift,” this procedure addresses early signs of aging in the lower face and jawline. It involves smaller incisions and a shorter recovery than a traditional facelift. At Primera Plastic Surgery, our mini facelift can also target neck bands, early jowls, and skin laxity.
SMAS Facelift
Our full facelift procedure targets additional layers of facial tissue (known as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system) to achieve significant lifting and tightening in the lower two-thirds of the face. By lifting the deep plane muscle and plicating the SMAS and platysma (neck muscle), Primera Plastic Surgery delivers longer-lasting and more natural-looking results. We also include a neck lift as part of this procedure for comprehensive rejuvenation.
Neck Lift
A neck lift or submentoplasty procedure targets loose skin, muscle banding, and excess fat deposits. It can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other facial procedures.
A submentoplasty (chin tuck) is ideal for patients looking to treat a double chin, while a neck lift is ideal for full-neck contouring.
Which Procedure Is Right for You?
Mini Facelift vs Facelift
A mini facelift is a less invasive option that uses smaller incisions and targets early signs of aging in the cheeks and jawline. A SMAS facelift, meanwhile, is more extensive, involving larger incisions and addressing moderate to severe sagging and aging in the lower two-thirds of the face. You can enhance either procedure with a neck lift.
Neck Lift vs Facelift
A neck lift specifically targets neck aging concerns, such as loose skin and muscle banding. Most patients will be better candidates for a SMAS facelift (which includes a neck lift) than a standalone neck lift procedure.
Neck Lift vs Mini Facelift
The mini facelift focuses on the lower face, treating early-stage jowling and a softening jawline. It is frequently combined with a neck lift, which targets drooping skin and platysmal banding.
