One of the most significant developments in the aesthetic field in recent years is the increased availability of effective non-surgical alternatives to the traditional facelift. The men and women I treat have the option of injectables, such as JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, or completely non-invasive treatments such as Ultherapy®.
Patients who visit one of our locations in the Orlando area have unique concerns about their appearance that can’t be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach. By customizing an overall facial rejuvenation plan based on the skin’s condition and a patient’s cosmetic goals, I get results that look natural and in harmony with the whole face.
Let’s look a little more closely at the options I commonly use, which can be mixed and matched as needed:
- Ultherapy: This treatment is unique among non-invasive procedures for its ability to target the deeper layers of facial tissue where sagging and wrinkles originate. It uses ultrasound technology to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, which triggers the growth of new collagen. Over time, this results in lifting and tightening the skin.
- Dermal fillers and BOTOX®: A range of fillers are available to treat fine lines and restore volume to areas of the face that look hollow. JUVÉDERM®, for example, is great for filling in wrinkles, and its sister product JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is approved by the FDA for plumping up cheeks that have lost volume. BOTOX Cosmetic (and Dysport®, a similar product) is great for softening wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. There seems to be an injectable for practically every facial aging concern these days.
- Facelift surgery: Non-surgical treatments have made great strides, but a surgical approach is still the best option in certain cases. For people who have more extensive signs of aging who want longer-lasting results, a facelift or mini facelift can tighten skin, reduce jowls, and provide a much younger look.
When I stick with a non-surgical plan that combines several options, I call it a Primera Lift. This customized method often also includes laser treatments for the complexion, and it is an effective choice that has very little downtime compared with surgery.
The key to finding the right treatments for you — surgical or non-surgical — and combining them effectively is choosing a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who understands anatomy and has experience with lots of options.
