Mandi knew she wanted to get a rhinoplasty, or nose job, leading up to her wedding day. “For a year and a half, I did research on rhinoplasty in the area,” she says. “I searched online, through social media and reviews.” When she discovered Edward J. Gross, M.D., a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, specializing in rhinoplasty, she knew she had found the right provider.
On her wedding day, Mandi was thrilled with how her nose looked, saying it made her feel “like a beautiful princess.” She wanted to make sure she had the surgery before this monumental life-changing event, and now she has beautiful pictures to remind her of that special feeling.
What should you know about rhinoplasty leading up to an important event? Here is Mandi’s story.
How Can Rhinoplasty Boost My Confidence on My Wedding Day?
Mandi describes her experience with Dr. Gross as an “absolute confidence booster.” She says that on her wedding day, she not only felt amazing, but she also loved taking side-profile photos, which for many rhinoplasty patients is a challenge before their surgery.
Patients often report feeling better about themselves and their appearance after their rhinoplasty. This procedure can address one of the following specific cosmetic/internal conditions:
- Correcting a long, short, crooked, or wide nose
- Improving nasal symmetry
- Reducing the appearance of a dorsal hump
- Elevating, lifting, thinning or shortening the nasal tip
- Narrowing the nostrils
- Improved breathing
One of the reasons Mandi chose Dr. Gross was because she could tell that his work is unique to each person. “No nose looks the same,” she says, acknowledging that a rhinoplasty is a deeply personal experience. Because of Dr. Gross’s expertise, he can address individual needs and create a final product that his patients are excited by.
How Soon Before My Wedding Should I Have a Rhinoplasty?
One of the top questions asked by soon-to-be brides considering rhinoplasty is how far in advance they should schedule their appointment. Mandi had her procedure a year out from her wedding day, which gave her face and nose plenty of time to heal.
Typically with rhinoplasty, you should expect your results to continue improving over the first year as swelling gradually subsides, even though you will be able to see a change in your appearance within the first week post-op.
For optimal results and looking your best on your wedding day, Dr. Gross recommends giving your body at least a full 3 months to heal.
What Is It Like to Get a Rhinoplasty and How Is Recovery?
When asked about her experience at Dr. Gross’s office, Mandi simply said, “One word: Comforting.” On the day of her surgery, Mandi says she found Dr. Gross to be very personable and his staff to be helpful and friendly. She continues, “I’m not sure what I was expecting, but they gave me a warm welcome. I felt comfortable with the entire team.”
The surgery itself, Mandi describes as the “easiest surgery [she’s] ever had.” Everything went according to schedule. She felt good afterward, without much pain, having been fully prepared with thorough information about what to expect and everything needed for her home care recovery
“Dr. Gross even called me the night of to check in on me and answered all my questions,” Mandi says, which only added to her comfort level. From that point on, she was able to recover and see her appearance improve more and more as the swelling from her procedure went down.
What Can I Expect My Results to Be After Rhinoplasty?
At Dr. Gross’s practice, before performing plastic surgery on the face, he uses computer imaging to show patients what they can expect their results to be. This also allows them to work through any concerns that the patient has and adjust the process according to their goals.
In Mandi’s case, she says her results “look even better than the digital imaging” that Dr. Gross presented her with. She could not be happier with how her face looks today.
