From Fraxel® laser treatments to nonsurgical skin tightening, our Orlando-area practice offers a range of treatments that can significantly improve your appearance ahead of a wedding or special event— all without surgery. However, it’s important to time these treatments right to make sure you’re fully recovered and enjoying the best possible results on your big day.
If you’re wondering when to get started with your treatment of choice, here are a few guidelines to help you plan ahead.
Fraxel
Fraxel is a laser skin resurfacing treatment that can improve your skin coloration, tone, and texture, as well as reduce sun damage and fine lines. By stimulating the production of healthy new tissue, it brings a younger and more refreshed glow to your skin.
When to start: 6 months before. You may need several sessions to achieve your best results, so it’s wise to start this treatment a few months in advance and give yourself plenty of time for additional appointments.
Ultherapy®
Ultherapy can tighten loose skin on your neck and help define your jawline. If you struggle with sagging skin on your lower face or neck (sometimes called “turkey neck”), Ultherapy can reduce the appearance of a double chin and reveal a more defined, sculpted neck.
When to start: 2 to 3 months before. The treatment tightens skin and stimulates collagen production gradually for about 6 months, but you’ll see noticeable improvements after about 3 months.
BOTOX® & Dysport®
BOTOX and Dysport can reduce wrinkles and create younger-looking skin. These products are neuromodulators, which work by relaxing contracting muscles and allowing the overlying skin to smooth out. They’re commonly used to diminish lines around the forehead and eyes, including frown lines and crow’s feet.
When to start: 6 weeks before. BOTOX takes at least 3 to 5 days to take effect and wears off after about 3 to 6 months. Dysport starts working in 1 to 2 days and can last from 6 months to a year.
Dermal Fillers
Fillers can enhance facial contours, create smooth skin, and augment the cheeks, chin, and lips. Products such as JUVÉDERM® are formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA), which we inject just below the skin to hydrate and plump up precise areas.
When to start: 6 weeks before. This time frame allows swelling to go down and bruising and redness to resolve, but you’ll still have plenty of volume before the product naturally dissolves over the next few months.
The Beauty of Planning Ahead
Big events are stressful. Luckily, you can plan nonsurgical treatments ahead of time so you’re not adding last-minute tasks to your to-do list.
As a general rule, it’s wise to give yourself more time than you think you’ll need. Try not to squeeze treatments into the last few days before an event; while they are nonsurgical, some involve a bit of recovery. You’ll want plenty of time to allow swelling, flaking, and other effects to resolve and to correct any additional concerns.
