Restylane is part of a new generation of what are known as filler products. These substances are used for correcting facial lines and folds, plumping and reshaping the lips, and softening lower eyelid bags. Unlike many similar products previously found in the marketplace, Restylane is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists naturally in the body. This makes it safe and completely biodegradable. Dr. Edward J. Gross achieves exceptionally long-lasting results with Restylane treatments for Orlando women and men.

Restylane With a Facial Aesthetic Specialist
Dr. Gross bases his Restylane treatments on an understanding of facial aging and collagen loss. Facial aging results from both internal and external factors. Internal, or chronological, factors occur over time and are caused by genetics and the natural aging process. External, or environmental, factors include sun exposure, smoking, pollution, gravity, facial expressions, and sleep position. All of these factors can contribute to changes in the skin, as well as changes in facial bones.
Aging and environmental damage diminish the body’s production of collagen. A fibrous protein in the dermis, collagen gives natural structure to the skin. It also helps the skin retain both hyaluronic acid and elastin, an elastic protein that helps your skin maintain its shape. Collagen loss and damage to supporting structures beneath the skin reduce the skin’s ability to maintain elasticity and retain moisture.
At Primera, Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts with an ultra-fine needle. The hyaluronic acid contained in Restylane cushions and lubricates to keep the skin moist. It also stimulates the production of collagen to add volume and elasticity. While the Restylane we use contains anesthetic lidocaine, we sometimes use a highly effective topical anesthetic called BLT when injecting fillers into facial lines and folds. When using Restylane to enhance the lips, we administer a local anesthetic similar to that used by a dentist.
Read and hear real people discuss their unique experiences and get a perspective that is sometimes missing from shorter reviews. These stories feature some of our actual patients describing their personal journeys and what makes Primera Plastic Surgery such a special place.
Some Restylane patients experience temporary, mild swelling and redness at the treatment sites. This treatment requires no downtime. While experiences vary, results often last 6 to 9 months.
“Facial aging usually begins in your 20s, when the firmness of your skin begins to decrease. Wrinkles, blemishes, and sunspots may also start to appear, becoming more pronounced with age. Of course, changes vary from person to person.”
