Proven Techniques, Outstanding Results

The YAG laser’s track record of getting consistent, high-quality results is well documented. A YAG laser is non-ablative, meaning it penetrates deep into the skin’s surface without damaging the external skin tissue. The skin absorbs the focused laser energy.

We use the YAG laser to treat:

  • Moles
  • Brown spots (pigmented lesions)
  • Seborrheic keratosis (benign skin growths)
  • Sunspots
  • Melasma

In addition, we use the YAG laser for tattoo removal.

YAG Laser Skin Treatments With a Facial Aesthetic Specialist

Our YAG laser, the Candela® Alex TriVantage (ATV), is one of the most advanced lasers available for removing tattoos, brown areas of pigment such as age spots and certain birthmarks, and the spots caused by melasma.

Patients wear eye protection throughout the laser treatment session. The YAG laser typically causes little discomfort, although some patients may choose to have a topical anesthetic applied to the treatment area before the procedure begins. During the treatment, a handpiece is placed against the skin’s surface and activates the laser. The laser pulses may feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin. The versatile laser’s ability to specifically target pigmented lesions or tattoos makes it safer than traditional treatments.

The number of treatments needed to get the desired results varies depending on the condition being treated and the size of the pigmented lesion or other discoloration. A tattoo may require 4 to 6 sessions, while removing brown spots may take only 1 or 2 treatments.

What to Expect

Immediately following your treatment, we apply an icepack to help you remain comfortable. The gentle nature of the YAG laser treatment limits the recovery time. We provide post-treatment instructions, including taking care not to scrub the treatment area and to avoid using abrasive skin cleansers. It’s important to apply sunscreen to the area on a daily basis.

“Our YAG laser uses proven safe technology with a variety of different wavelengths to target many kinds of pigments and clear up the skin.”
